Agatha All Along

S1:E1 “Seekest Thou the Road”

I'm not gonna lie, I'm writing this post while watching the first episode of this series for the second time. This time around, I've noticed things I completely missed the first time. With this new perspective, I'll share my analysis—and if you stick around until the end, I might just drop an interesting (albeit far-fetched) theory.

One thing that immediately caught my attention was Agatha humming the melody of the Witches' Road ballad. This won't be the last time we hear this tune; it's used as the soundtrack for the episode's opening and again, as an acoustic version, when Agatha is lost in thought right before RĂo's visit. It's a clever way of foreshadowing how important this place will be in the story, but I believe it hints at something more: the place is real. Or at least, it needs to be.

Another thing I found intriguing is Agatha's interaction with Teen (let's call him that for now). Although it's later revealed that most of her interactions with people are influenced by the spell and her own imagination, two people can make her see beyond the illusion—Teen being one of them. As we learn later, Teen's goal in visiting her was to break the spell that turned her into the town's lunatic. However, she seemed to see beyond the spell even before he began casting it. There’s also a moment where she looks at Teen's hands, and they appear black. We know someone else with hands like that: the Scarlet Witch. So, did Agatha subconsciously recognize Teen’s identity from that very moment? Or did someone else plant that vision?

Now, let's talk about the second person who can help Agatha see through the spell: Río. Or is she the only one who truly can? After all, we can’t be sure Teen is the one who broke the spell—it could've been Río, who was present when the spell was lifted. Also, Teen mentions that for the spell to work, he needed something of Agatha’s, which is why he was searching her house. But I seriously doubt that the locket he found originally belonged to her, which would have made the spell ineffective. So maybe Río is the real key here.

In summary: The Witches' Road is real, Río is the one who actually broke the spell, and someone else is pulling the strings in the background—we just don’t know why yet. But that’s not the theory I teased at the beginning. There’s something even juicier that I don’t think anyone has picked up on. It might be nothing, or it could lead to a big “dun, dun, dun” moment later. My theory is this: there's a man plotting in the shadows. We only see him once, but he gives Agatha information that no one inside the spell should know—not even her. He tells her that every single copy of the Darkhold has been destroyed. Something about this interaction feels off, like he's not just some random extra.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying my time rewatching Agatha All Along. I have to admit, part of that is because Teen is super cute, but also because the cast is fantastic, and the storytelling is spot on.

Okay, just one last thing... is the bunny just a bunny?
